Youth Exchange

28.08-06.09.2024.

Lama Dei Peligni, Italy

Our participants have successfully completed the “S.T.O.R.I.E. (Stories and Trails of Resistance in Europe)” project, which took place from June 17th to June 28th, 2024, in Lama Dei Peligni, Italy. They return home with enriched perspectives on the themes of resistance, freedom, and the enduring relevance of historical narratives in today’s world.

During the project, participants explored the legacy of the Partisan Resistance and connected these stories to contemporary issues like migration and oppression. They retraced sections of the Freedom Trail, delving into the history of the Maiella Brigade, and engaged in reflective discussions on parallels between past and present struggles. These activities highlighted the importance of resilience and the ongoing fight for justice in modern society.

The program emphasized critical thinking and creativity through workshops and video-making labs, where participants documented their experiences and collected testimonies from local communities. These hands-on activities helped them develop storytelling skills while fostering an appreciation for the value of preserving history and its lessons.

In addition, participants tackled broader topics, including contemporary conflicts, the challenges of misinformation, and youth civil resistance in the face of climate change and social inequalities. They gained tools to counteract fake news and foster activism, equipping them to address these challenges within their communities.

This Erasmus+ project, co-funded by the European Union and organized by Associazione di Promozione Sociale 0121 (APS 0121), provided a transformative experience, merging outdoor learning and historical education with creativity and activism. Armed with newfound knowledge and practical skills, participants are prepared to champion values of freedom, inclusivity, and resistance in their own contexts, inspiring others to engage with Europe’s past and present through a critical and creative lens.
